The collaboration, which falls under True Move's concession with the CAT, is a milestone in the development of Thailand's telecommunications industry and the first step in offering Thai people faster and more convenient communications services on a world-class standard.
Kajornsak Singhaseni, senior executive vice president, CAT Telecomm said that the Board of Directors of CAT Telecom issued a resolution during a meeting on December 11, 2008, authorizing True Move to run test services in Bangkok based on HSPA technology. This will be a non-commercial trial project to test equipment and study the implementation of the upgraded network. CAT Telecom Plc has agreed to work together with True Move in line with the Private Participation In State Undertaking Act B.E. 2535.
Supachai Chearavanont, chief executive officer & managing director of True Move, said he is delighted that CAT and True Move can form a business alliance to offer HSPA-based mobile phone services for Thai consumers. True Move will import equipment to upgrade its network to use the 800MHz frequency range to provide HSPA services in Bangkok.
The collaboration will not only add value to customers with faster and more efficient communications, but will also bring the Thai telecommunications industry up to a higher level of international standards.
